Happy Valentine's Day!

I hope everyone has an enjoyable Valentine's Day! Personally I think it's just a stupid Hallmark holiday, but that's just me. :)

I got Ghirardelli chocolate filled with caramel squares. And will be getting something else once it comes in. (Like most men, he waited until the last minute.)

I slept most of the day since I worked last night. I made some yummy vegetable soup for dinner which really hit the spot on this cold, icy, snowy day!

Merry Christmas

I hope everyone had a joyous holiday! It simply didn't feel like Christmas here, but I didn't expect it too. I did; however, think Bart and/or Terry would put some Christmas lights up or something for me to wake up to, but I was sadly wrong.

We had a nice time opening gifts ... I got an electric guitar (telecaster knockoff), amp, a variety of pink picks, a pink amp cord, 2007 calender, socks, and snowman flip flops. That was all from Bart. Terry got me two matching frames one a purse, one a shoe, two decorative shoes, a purse clock with a small shoe at the bottom and a "hat box"(both which match my shoe powder room). We got gift cards from my father in law, which is what we wanted. So all in all, I guess it wasn't too bad. I just can't wait until it's all over and all signs of the holiday are gone!

I hope next year I'm more in the Christmas spirit!

The Year Of The Anti-Christmas

There are no stocking hung by our chimney with care, our halls are not decked with bows of holly, and there's definately not any fa la laing to be heard! I just can't do it ... there's no way I'd survive an actual Christmas this year! This years Christmas had way too much that was suppose to be that's not, and no matter what I do, or how hard I try .... I can't forget what could have and should have been. One of the biggest if not the biggest mistakes I've ever made ... but as they say, live and learn. I haven't gotten to the learning, I'm just trying to live. I know someday the past will be the past and not haunting my present and future and I'll be able to live my life happily. But until that day ... I unfortunately have to try and escape reality in order to sustain sanity.

It's almost that "wonderful" time of the year

This year has flowen by, I can't believe it's December, let alone mid December!! The weather has been mild, we haven't had snow (just a flurry), and it doesn't feel like Christmas is in slightly over a week! It might have something to do with our house being a Christmas free zone, no tree, not even a wreath on the door! I just couldn't do it, as much as I love decorating ... I couldn't do it. To think last year at this time, we were anxiously awaiting our picture and history of our daughter. She got an ornament (or two), gifts, outfits, etc. I know I personally looked forward to this year as a wonderful year. I thought it would be full of the laughter of a child, the pitter patter of little feet, and the joy of parenthood. I looked forward to decorating for the holidays, making cookies, sharing traditions, and making new ones.

Part of me wants to put up a tree and lights, and all the beautiful decorations I have, but then I'll just be reminded of all I don't have and thought I would have.

Thanksgiving

Anyone who knows me knows I'm not a fan of Thanksgiving in the traditional sense. Everyone's always told me they feel sorry for the teacher who has my child (not that I have one) when they learn about the first Thanksgiving! :)

We (Bart, Terry, and I) left early this morning for my parents. We arrived in no time (I slept the whole way, so it was uber good time for me). Bryce was there, and my parents ... as I walked in Bryce was yelling there here, there here. Then he said, I lost. lol They had bet on who would arrive first myself or my sister. YES! We won ... I love winning! :) We didn't win by much though ... Brenda and family arrived probably 10 -15 minutes after we did.

My mom had made the same as every year ... enough to feed the whole town!! I made a turtle cheesecake, which was very good ... and got the seal of approval from Kaylie. My sister brought her famous pies ... Uncle Sams recipe! (As in Sams club) We had SO much food and it was all so good, as always.

This was the first year we forgot to go around the table before we ate to say what we were thankful for. Personally, I'm glad we forgot ... because honestly I had been struggling with what to say. Sad I know! I look around and see others who have a lot less, and much bigger problems ... so I should be thankful for what I have. Notice the word SHOULD! And it's not that I only think of myself ... it's just that I feel I've had such a tough year, it's hard to find things to be thankful for! But not to worry ... I decided that I am thankful for my friends, they've stuck with me through thick and then and without them I would not be here today. I'm also thankful I have a roof over my head, a bed to sleep in, and food to eat. We take too much for granted.

So thanksgiving went on without a hitch ... football and turkey (well for most).

Happy Halloween!

I hope everyone had a happy day (and night) of haunting. I hope you had lots of treats and zero tricks!

My Halloween was spent being rather pissed off. Bart decided we shouldn't hand out candy because they wouldn't be home until around 7ish, I had to take a friend home from work at 7.30. So there went that fun ... I love handing out candy! Sitting outside seeing all the cute little one's all decked out ever so cute. Then the older one's that don't even dress up ... give me a break! But nope, not this year .... I slept until it was time for me to pick DJ up. Enjoyed watching the little trick or treaters in his neighborhood, then drove by the infamous Dodd household where there was great spooky fun being had by all. How cool is it to show a scary movie on your house??? Now that my friends is what I call rockin' ... but what do you expect? :)

Next year .... I'm going all out! So to all you ghosts and goblins .... watch out!!!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day to you all

Yes, my favorite holiday ... call me strange; go ahead, I don't mind! I'm Irish, very proud of my heritage, as I think everyone should be. And I'm just lucky enough to have a day just for me to celebrate it (unlike other heritage's out there). So in honor of those glorious of holidays, I'll leave you with this Irish Blessing:

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

May God be with you and bless you:
May you see your children's children.
May you be poor in misfortune,
Rich in blessings.
May you know nothing but happiness
From this day forward.

May the road rise up to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the warm rays of sun fall upon your home
And may the hand of a friend always be near.

May green be the grass you walk on,
May blue be the skies above you,
May pure be the joys that surround you,
May true be the hearts that love you.
I love you Grandma and Grandad, you'll never be forgotten! Grandma, your Irish spirit and love or your Irish heritage lives through me! I love and miss you both! Éireann go Brách!!!
